Prior to creating his own private equity development platform (Vulcan Development), Todd served 5 years as the global strategist for the National Australia Bank’s Asset Management group (NABAM), creating a real assets product for that entity. Previously, Todd worked for LaSalle Investment Management, a global real estate investment manager, for 21 years. While at LaSalle, Todd served as the Global Strategist, Global Head of Product Development and CEO of Asia Pacific. As the Global Strategist, he authored several research studies on portfolio diversification and real estate cycles. While in the role as head of product development, Todd launched 15 distribution funds over a 12-year time frame, raising more than $15 billion in capital. As the CEO of Asia Pacific, he built the investment management and business platforms in that region.
Having served as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University where he taught courses on real estate finance and real estate capital markets, Todd authored an award-winning article on real estate cycles and published several articles on the topics of portfolio diversification and global real estate markets and investing. He has guest lectured at universities around the world including UC Berkeley, Hong Kong University, and Nanjing University in Mainland China. Kip Mallahan is a practicing attorney who has spent the last two decades as a litigator and trial lawyer. He is the co-founder of Weltchek, Mallahan, & Weltchek and is admitted to the Bars in Maryland, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Mr. Mallahan has spent his entire career to date focusing on complex litigation matters including medical negligence, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, products liability and complex business torts.
With over two decades of construction management experience, Danny grew his former company’s annual sales from $5 million to $100 million. Under his guidance, the company successfully undertook and completed over $500 million in construction projects. Danny demonstrates adeptness in handling diverse responsibilities from construction management to sales.
Sarah Nadiv has spent the past two decades managing a broad portfolio of applied research and rigorous program evaluations. She has expertise in advanced statistical methods and extensive experience using longitudinal data systems to answer complex questions. In addition, she has led business development strategies for international organizations with a focus on government contracting. Most recently, she served as the Chief Business Officer for an international non-governmental organization and is currently the senior business strategist for an organization with annual revenues exceeding $200 million. Bringing her analytical expertise to Vulcan Development, Sarah has spent the past two years supporting self-storage projects through market research and competitive analysis.
Nelson was a co-founder of Redpoint Investment Management and has over 30 years investment management experience. Prior to Redpoint, Nelson was the Director of Global Equities at First Quadrant in Pasadena from 2008 to 2009. In this role, Nelson was responsible for global stock selection research, portfolio management, attribution analysis and technical support for marketing and client service. Nelson managed a team of 10 analysts and portfolio managers, overseeing $4 billion across long/short market neutral, 130/30, long only enhanced and tax efficient strategies.
Prior to First Quadrant, Nelson was a Principal at the Vanguard Group in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. From 1992 to 2002, Nelson developed quantitative investment strategies, was a portfolio manager and played a key role creating Vanguard’s internal active equity management capability. From 2003 to 2008, Nelson established and managed Vanguard’s “thought leadership research” function to support global advice, product development and the institutional business.
Nelson has a PhD in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
